Abstract
We describe the changes in IGF-I and II plasma levels in males and females and those of testis and liver IGF-I and II mRNA contents during the cycle in relation to changes in other plasma hormones and gonad GH-Receptors. We conclude that, in both sexes, increases in circulating concentrations of IGF may play a physiological role in the earliest stages of the gametogenetic cycle. Changes in testicular IGF-I and II mRNA occur later, and IGF-I expression seems more related to GTH-I and androgen plasma levels than to plasma GH or testicular GH-Receptor changes.
