Abstract
    Dumping of radioactive wastes at sea is discussed from different positions. The ecology of benthos is briefly described, and possible impacts and effects of leaking of radioactivity on marine life are explained. The lack of specific legislationon this issue is pointed out, together with the possible economic consequences for coastal communities (tourism, fisheries).
