Abstract
    Some polychaete and mollusk communities living in the sandy bottoms of Playa del Puntal (Santander, Spain) are described. A set of biological and physico-chemical data obtained in fifty 35 x 35cm sampling plots is analysed by means of hierarchic ordination methods. The different types of communities found are related to the organic matter content in the substrate, soil texture and position of sampling plots in relation to tide levels.
